Rats and mice don’t frighten me at all, but snakes do. I even thought it was foolish to pick up a harmless snake. Respect to the man who picked up the young youngster right away.
When I was a teenager, I was carrying two buckets of water and walking down the street when a viper emerged from the grass and crept directly toward me. I had heard that if you don’t move, the snake won’t touch you, so I did just that. I stood still, and the viper crawled right over my legs and disappeared as if nothing had happened.
And a few years ago, a snake entered our fourth-floor flat. My husband trod on the snake because he didn’t see it in the dark and when he felt something move under him, he turned on the light.
He observed a snake from a distance of 1.5 meters, which alarmed her. She swiftly slid into the bathroom, but we never saw her again. For a half year, we were reluctant to use the restroom because we thought she might have entered the sewer. But because we had two young children, this really frightened us, so it’s a good thing she didn’t bite anyone.
