NVIDIA Blackwell chip production starts in Arizona — NVIDIA opens first US factories.
NVIDIA is collaborating with manufacturing partners to establish U.S.-based factories for the complete production of NVIDIA AI supercomputers, a first for the company.
This initiative involves over a million square feet of manufacturing space in Arizona and Texas to build and test NVIDIA Blackwell chips and AI supercomputers. Blackwell chip production has begun at TSMC’s Arizona plants. NVIDIA is constructing supercomputer manufacturing facilities with Foxconn in Houston and Wistron in Dallas, with mass production expected to increase within the next 12-15 months.
The complex AI chip and supercomputer supply chain will involve partnerships with Amkor and SPIL for packaging and testing in Arizona. NVIDIA anticipates producing up to $500 billion worth of AI infrastructure in the U.S. within four years through these collaborations.
These NVIDIA AI supercomputers will power a new generation of AI-focused data centers, termed “AI factories.” The domestic manufacturing of these chips and supercomputers for these AI factories is projected to generate hundreds of thousands of jobs and contribute trillions of dollars to economic security in the coming decades.
NVIDIA’s founder and CEO, Jensen Huang, emphasized that building AI infrastructure engines in the U.S. for the first time will improve their ability to meet increasing demand, strengthen their supply chain, and enhance resilience.
NVIDIA will leverage its AI, robotics, and digital twin technologies, including NVIDIA Omniverse for factory simulations and NVIDIA Isaac GR00T for manufacturing automation, in the design and operation of these facilities.
